Artist-Led encounters with place for curious kids!
What happens when children slow down long enough to really notice the world around them?
LOOK CLOSER! is the very first ArtWalks pilot from Artful Kids Club.
It's a small group, artist-led nature adventure through Linton Park, where children are invited to wander, notice, collect textures, ask questions, make discoveries and turn what they find into art.
I'm Artist and 5 Star Childrens Entertainer Karen Hansen-Daniels.
I'll be sharing some of the same ways of looking that have shaped my own practice as a contemporary land artist. Not to teach children to see the world like I do, but to encourage them to discover how they see it for themselves.
For our first ArtWalk, we'll be exploring a printmaking process i've developed, inspired by and using the landscape itself.
We'll stop to listen. We'll look a little closer. We'll investigate the tiny details that are so easy to walk past when we're in a hurry, and we'll let the park become part of the creative process.

Children just need to bring a named drink bottle, a snack, comfortable walking shoes and clothes they're happy to get a little messy in.
