Who we are
Artful Addiction is a Rotorua-based face, body art and creative entertainment business led by husband-and-wife team Karen Hansen-Daniels and Tony Daniels.
Together, they bring professional artistry, warm hospitality and a whole lot of heart to birthdays, weddings, community celebrations, corporate events and special occasions across Rotorua and beyond.
Karen Hansen-Daniels
Lead Artist & Creative Director
Karen is the artist behind Artful Addiction.
With more than 20 years of creative industry experience, she specialises in professional face and body art, glitter artistry, fantasy makeup and imaginative event experiences for children and adults.
Her work is known for being highly individual. Rather than simply repeating the same design from face to face, Karen responds to the person sitting in front of her, creating something that feels like it belongs to them.
That sense of transformation is at the heart of Artful Addiction.
Karen holds a Bachelor of Creative Technologies, NZ Diploma in Art and Design, and Graduate Diploma in Leadership and Professional Mentoring, alongside many years of professional practice in face painting, body art, creative makeup and large-scale events.
Most importantly, she genuinely loves the people she paints and the small moment of magic that happens when the mirror comes out.
Tony Daniels
Event Support & Artful Addiction Right-Hand Man
Tony is the person helping make everything work beautifully behind the scenes.
From loading vehicles and setting up event spaces to long drives, pack-downs, practical problem-solving and looking after everyone along the way, Tony provides the steady support that allows Karen to concentrate on creating.
He is often the first extra pair of hands when an event needs them and an important part of the warm, down-to-earth way Artful Addiction works with clients.
Tony brings patience, humour, practical thinking and genuine care for people to every event he is involved in.
While Karen may be the one holding the paintbrush, Artful Addiction is very much a team effort.
Together, Karen and Tony believe creative entertainment should be beautifully presented, professionally delivered and, above all, something people genuinely enjoy being part of.
